Biography

André Sapir is a Professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Senior Fellow of Bruegel, and Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research. He is a member of the High-Level Group convened by Commissioner Gentiloni to reflect on the challenges of the European economy post COVID. He served on numerous EU advisory boards including the European Systemic Risk Board (2011-2015), European Commission President Barroso’s Economic Advisory Group (2005-2009), and as an economic advisor to Commission President Romano Prodi (2001-2004). He has been a visiting fellow at the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the World Trade Organization. Andre Sapir obtained his PhD in Economics from Johns Hopkins and is Member of the Royal Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts.
