Workshop: Adapting public finances to the emerging spending needs

On Tuesday 3 February 2026, DG ECFIN will organise a workshop on the topic "Adapting public finances to the emerging spending needs ".

The workshop will be a full-day event with high-profile speakers and discussants from academia and international organisations. It will take place in the Charlemagne building, Rue de la Loi 170, Brussels.

The workshop will be structured in three parts. The first session will explore how public spending can be reprioritised and made more efficient. The second session will mirror that on the revenue side while the third session will turn to the EU budget and possible initiatives at the EU.

The event will close with a policy panel discussion with leading experts.
The event will be held in a hybrid format.
