Syria

The European Commission conducts regular analysis on macroeconomic and financial developments in Syria but does not hold regular discussions with national authorities.

Cooperation with Syria suspended

EU cooperation with the Syrian government has been suspended since 2011, when the violent repression of peaceful protests marked the beginning of the ongoing military conflict. The EU however remains committed to delivering assistance to the Syrian population affected by the conflict, notably refugees and internally displaced persons, with a focus on the needs of children, students, human rights defenders and the civil society.
