The European Investment Project Portal and SOURCE join forces to foster investment in infrastructure projects

The European Investment Project Portal (EIPP), the online platform showcasing EU-based investment projects to investors, run by the European Commission, and SOURCE, the global online platform for infrastructure projects preparation, developed and funded by Multilateral Development Banks, have announced their cooperation with the aim of benefiting project promoters, developers and investors alike.

As part of this cooperation, the EIPP will encourage the use of SOURCE among its project promoters and SOURCE will endorse the EIPP to promote its projects to the international community of investors. Collaboration between the EIPP and SOURCE will also comprise technical cooperation between the two platforms, as well as joint outreach campaigns and workshops.

European Commission Vice President, Jyrki Katainen, stated: “The European Investment Project Portal already provides a vital service, matching investors with projects. With this new collaboration, the Portal will be strengthened further as SOURCE brings its global experience to the table. SOURCE provides an excellent tool for project promoters to enhance the preparation of their infrastructure projects, helping them to become more attractive to investors. I wish the collaboration every success.”

Christophe Dossarps, CEO of SIF-SOURCE added: “As part of the EU´s ambitious Investment Plan for Europe, the EIPP provides instrumental support to foster the use of SOURCE by governments and public agencies, particularly among European countries, and helps find the financing needed for their projects. As a forward-looking pipeline of EU investment projects, EIPP is a strong and strategic partner for the benefit of our users.”

BACKGROUND

About the European Investment Project Portal (EIPP)

The European Investment Project Portal (EIPP) is a multilingual online platform providing greater visibility and transparency about EU investment projects and opportunities. The EIPP is a key instrument of the Investment Plan for Europe aiming to support the financing of investment projects across the EU covering all sectors of the economy.

The EIPP was launched by the European Commission in June 2016 to provide a transparent forward- looking pipeline of EU investment projects. Currently almost 200 projects are already published on it, covering over 25 high-economic-potential sectors.

EU project promoters can register their projects on-line and boost their visibility to a large network of international investors to get the funding they need.
Promoters can submit projects in any of the 24 EU official languages and the European Commission will provide and publish a free translation into English. In return, investors looking for opportunities
in Europe can use the Portal’s advanced search and filtering criteria to choose among a broad array of projects. More information is available at: http://ec.europa.eu/eipp
