The National Council for Productivity was officially established on 1 September 2019.
The National Council for Productivity is tasked with monitoring, analysing and assessing the productivity and competitiveness of the Slovak Republic. The assessment covers the areas of innovation, business environment, education, effectiveness of the public sector, as well as the attractiveness of the Slovak Republic for foreign investment. The mission of the National Council for Productivity is to formulate independent analyses and provide a basis for a strengthened political discussion at national level.
The National Council for Productivity is composed of eleven members with a voting right coming from Academia (Slovak Academy of Sciences), business sector (Slovak Banking Association), analytical institutions (Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic) and various ministerial departments (Institute for Strategy and Analyses, Institute of Financial Policy, Institute of Social Policy, Institute of Educational Policy, Centre for Economic Issues, Office of the deputy Prime minister for Investments and Informatization and the Council for Budget responsibility) and the National Bank of Slovakia. The National Council for Productivity is also composed of six other members whose vote plays an advisory role coming from trade unions (Confederation of Trade Unions, Federation of Employer’s Association, National Union of Employers), business sector (Slovak Chamber of Commerce, Club 500) and the Supreme Audit Office of the Slovak Republic.
The chair of National Council for Productivity is the head of the Institute for Strategy and Analyses of the Government Office of the Slovak Republic. The Institute for Strategy and Analyses acts as the Secretariat of the National Council for Productivity.
The National Council for Productivity is charged with the preparation of an annual report, which will serve as a foundation in collective negotiations.
