September 2023: Economic Sentiment mildly lower in the EU and the euro area; Employment Expectations firmer in both regions
In September 2023, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) dipped slightly again in both the EU (-0.4 points to 92.8) and the euro area (-0.3 points to 93.3). By contrast, the Employment Expectations Indicator (EEI) picked up (+0.6 points to 102.4 in the EU and +0.5 points to 102.7 in the euro area).
In July 2023, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) continued to decline in both the EU (-0.5 points to 93.6) and the euro area (-0.8 points to 94.5).

In June 2023, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) declined further in both the EU (-1.1 points to 94.0) and the euro area (-1.1 points to 95.3).
The EU economy continues to grow, albeit with reduced momentum. The Summer 2023 Interim Economic Forecast revises growth down for the EU and the euro area in both 2023 and 2024. Headline inflation is expected to continue declining, broadly in line with the spring projections.
